Free Event: How to Help Your Child Become a Better Reader

Does your child struggle with any of these skills?

  • Rhyming
  • Reading unfamiliar words (and so guesses instead)
  • Sounding words out
  • Blending sounds together
  • Reading aloud
  • Remembering the alphabet, basic Maths and days of the week
  • Spelling
  • Pronouncing words (e.g. says ‘mawn lower’ instead of ‘lawn mower’)
  • Learning new skills (compensates by relying on memorization)
  • Remembering facts and numbers
  • Writing letters (or numbers) correctly (e.g. reverses d and b)
  • Learning new skills (relies on memorisation)
  • Doing word problems in Maths

During the first two years of school, children typically learn to read. After that, they need to be able to read to learn.

If you want your child to be a confident, capable reader who can make the most of every day at school, join us at Kids First’s next free Community Service Seminar to find out how you can support your child’s literacy skills.

Jolin Edmondson – Speech Pathologist & Daniel Naidu – Speech Pathologist

How to Help Your Child Become a Better Reader will be presented by speech pathologists Jolin Edmondson and Daniel Naidu.

Jolin and Daniel have post-graduate training and experience in supporting children’s literacy and they love to help kids master the mysteries of reading, writing and spelling.

Using their deep understanding of how to help children build better receptive and expressive language skills, they’ve helped hundreds of 5 to 10 year olds improve their literacy.

At this valuable 2 hour presentation, Jolin and Daniel will show you how to support your reluctant reader’s confidence with common-sense strategies that work.

Join us for a down to earth evening full of practical Tips and advice so that your child will enjoy a better chance of literacy and learning success.
