We all want the very best for our kids and family, but it can be tricky to find the time to travel to and from appointments, especially when home is some distance away from the experienced professional that you have chosen to support your child.
That’s why Kids First offers convenient tele-health appointments which give children and families the opportunity to get the help they need from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
How does tele-health work?
Tele-health is an exciting innovation and allows Kids First’s experienced therapists and teacher to support children anywhere in the world!
Using the digital technology that you have in your smart phone, portable tablet or home computer, you and your child can connect with your Kids First therapist from wherever you are.
This eliminates interruptions and potential setbacks that can happen when your child either can’t make it to their usual in-person appointment, or simply can’t attend a’live’ session because Kids First is too far away to make a personal visit viable.
Setting Tele-Health up for your child
- Tele-health sessions are planned and resourced just as an in-person session would be.
- You will receive a reminder by SMS 72 hours prior to your session so that you and your family can prepare
- Your child’s therapist will send a session plan to you prior to your tele-health appointment so you will know:
a. What goals you and your child will be working toward
b. What household resources the therapist might used during the session (eg coloured pencils, toy cars, puzzles etc)
- You will also be provided with a personal link to your tele-health session so that, at your appointed time, you can log on to your ‘virtual’ meeting room.
Do I need to stay with my child?
If your child is very young, it will be very helpful if you are on standby to assist, not just with the technology, but also with the interaction that your child will need to get the most out of the session.
This will empower you with the strategies that the therapist is using so that you can encourage your child’s skill development at home.
If your child is older and able to participate in the session alone, it is perfectly possible for them to work independently with their therapist or teacher in their ‘virtual’ therapy or classroom.
Fees and Rebates
