Jillian is an experienced speech therapist supporting children on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. She loves getting to know kids and helping them find their voice, in whatever way works best for them, and she brings warmth, curiosity and real enthusiasm to every session.
Jillian trained and practised as a speech-language pathologist in the United States, working across schools and clinics with children of all ages, before continuing her career in Australia at Kids First. She supports children with speech sound difficulties, language delay, autism and complex communication needs. Jillian also speaks Spanish, and has supported many Spanish-speaking children and families throughout her career.
Jillian has a special interest in supporting neurodivergent children to build their communication, confidence and self-advocacy skills. She takes a neurodiversity-affirming approach, which means she honours each child’s own way of communicating, rather than trying to change it.
Jillian believes the best results happen when everyone works together. She has worked closely alongside school psychologists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, and has seen firsthand how much richer the outcomes are for kids and families when the whole team is involved. She brings that same spirit of teamwork to Kids First, partnering closely with parents, teachers and other professionals so children get steady support at home, at school and in therapy.
Jillian tailors every session to the child in front of her, thinking about their needs, their interests and their personality, so they feel supported, respected and celebrated just as they are.
Jillian works at Kids First Monday to Friday. You can claim rebates for her speech therapy sessions through Medicare, private health funds, and the NDIS. She looks forward to meeting you and your child.
