Parenting Support in Sydney’s northern beaches
Being a parent is a tough job.
At Kids First, we know this because we are parents too!
We understand that you want to be able to support your child, but that sometimes, you need guidance about the best way to so this.
That’s where we come in.
Our team members are highly trained professionals who have years of experience working with kids and families. But we also know that you are the real expert on your child and we very rarely meet a parent whose ‘gut instinct’ about their son or daughter’s needs is not accurate!
That’s why we’re committed to giving you opportunities to gain the knowledge, skills and resources you need as you tackle the challenging, yet immensely rewarding journey that is raising your children.
Join us so that, together, we can help our children to be happy, confident kids!
Parent Support: Your child’s therapy sessions
We encourage you to ‘sit in’ on your child’s health therapy sessions.
We think it’s important for you to be involved so that you can make informed decisions and so that you are familiar with the skills and techniques that your child is learning.
We want you to feel empowered enough to encourage your child at home and confident enough to convey useful and relevant information to your child’s teachers at school and preschool.
We value our partnership with you and are committed to helping you to understand your child’s needs so that you can become your child’s advocate.
Parent Support: Free Community Service Seminars
We welcome you to our free Community Service Seminars where you will meet a wide range of specialists whose tips and advice could make a difference in your home.
Every year, more than 1000 parents and professionals come along to these events, where the focus is on practical, positive parenting and finding common sense solutions to every day family problems.
These events book out quickly, and the best way to find out about them is through Kids First’s fortnightly email magazine, to which you can subscribe here.
Parent Support: Family Counselling
Sometimes, things can get a bit fraught in families.
We understand that circumstances both inside and outside your home might be difficult and you might be worried about how this is affecting your child…or even yourself.
While family members and friends often mean well, it can be helpful to talk with someone who is outside the ’emotional bubble’ of your life and can see things from a fresh perspective.
Kids First’s caring and gentle psychologists and counsellors have years of experience and can offer practical, independent support to you and your child.
They can talk with you, offer strategies and give you ideas that could make things better.

Parent Support: Care & Connect
Support group for parents & friends of children with autism
Having a child with special needs can be tricky. Your experience of parenting is sometimes different from those of your friends and family and because of these differences, it is easy to fee isolated and disconnected from other mums and dads.
Care & Connect meets monthly and offers parents and friends of children with autism an opportunity to meet, socialise, share ideas and find friendship and support.
Care & Connect takes place in Brookvale in the relaxing environment of the Community Lounge at Brookvale Oval. Usually taking place on Tuesday mornings, it is very informal, warm and friendly and best of all….. absolutely free.
Contact us on (02) 9938 5419 to find out when the next Care & Connect gathering will be held.
