Career Opportunity:

Registered Child Psychologist

Registered Child Psychologist Job – Northern Beaches | Kids First Children’s Services

Join a values-led clinic where you’re a person first and a practitioner second.

You’ve done the hard yards. You’ve built your skills. Now you’re ready for a role that gives back as much as you give.

Maybe this is not your first psychology job – but it could be your best one yet.

At Kids First Children’s Services, we’ve created a role that gives registered psychologists the structure, mentoring, and collaboration they need – without the burnout, isolation, or pressure to become a crisis manager.

We’re looking for a warm, capable psychologist with 2–5 years’ experience to join our award-winning multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, OTs, speech pathologists, and early intervention teachers.

This isn’t a sink-or-swim gig. It’s a salaried position with structure, support, and variety – a role where you’ll be respected as a person and a practitioner.

Does this sound like the kind of role you’ve been searching for?

  • You want to be part of a warm, collaborative team that genuinely shares the load

  • You’re looking for time and space to deliver thoughtful therapy – not just rush from one session to the next

  • You’d love to grow your skills alongside experienced clinicians who support each other every day

  • You’re keen to make a real difference – without burning out

  • And you’re ready for a role that values you as a person, not just a provider

At Kids First, we’ve built a team – and a workplace – that does just that.

Child psychologist job opportunity at Kids First Children's Services in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Work in a supportive, multi-disciplinary team helping children thrive

What’s in it for you?

A manageable caseload – not a production line
We protect our clinicians from unrealistic KPIs. You’ll have the time, systems and support to do thoughtful, high-quality work – not bounce from one crisis to the next.

Real work-life balance
With daily admin time and Early Finish Fridays (1:30pm), you’ll head into the weekend with breathing space and energy for life outside of work.

Daily collaboration, not professional isolation
You’ll work side-by-side with experienced psychologists, OTs, speech pathologists, and early intervention teachers. With shared care and regular case conferences, you’re never working alone.

Tailored mentoring and development when you need it
We offer structured support to help you grow without feeling overwhelmed. You’ll have access to regular Psychology Hubs, 1:1 supervision aligned with your goals, and fortnightly multi-disciplinary case conferences that bring your colleagues around the table – not just onto your screen.

Opportunities for growth
We’ll work with you to build confidence and stretch your strengths – whether that means deepening your therapy skills, exploring assessments, or developing new programs that meet kids’ needs.

A secure, above-award salary
This is a salaried position with pay that reflects your experience and the value you bring to children, families, and colleagues. No chasing billables – just stable income and meaningful work.

A workplace that feels like a professional home
We’re known for our kindness and care – for our clients and for each other. With a dedicated Customer Service Team managing your bookings, billings and reminders, you’re free to focus on what you do best: helping children and families thrive.

The children and families we work with:

You’ll support children aged 5 -18 who come to us through many paths, including:

  • Referrals from GPs, school counsellors, or teachers
  • Children with NDIS plans seeking collaborative care
  • Families wanting assessments for learning or developmental differences
  • Kids attending our evidence-based group programs (like Cool Kids)
  • Parents seeking guidance through challenging times – often referred by friends, schools, or other families we’ve helped

You’ll have the chance to deliver intervention that actually makes a difference – with the time, collaboration, and systems to do it well.

Your week might include:

  • Supporting children aged 5 – 18 with therapy to manage emotions, build resilience, and strengthen relationships
  • Guiding children who’ve been referred by their GP, school, or other health professional
  • Being part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting children and teens with NDIS plans
  • Consulting with families and educators to create consistent, child-centred strategies
  • Attending multidisciplinary case conferences (often the most rewarding part of the week)
  • Having daily time to plan, collaborate, and reflect – because thoughtful work takes time
