Does your child:
- Have frequent tantrums?
- Meltdown at the slightest provocation?
- Find it hard to calm down after experiencing ‘big emotions’?
- Seem unable (or unwilling!) to listen or following instructions?
- Struggle to interact appropriately with other kids?
- Avoid messy play?
- Pinch, bite or hit other children?
- Get frightened by sounds like a flushing toilet, vacuum cleaner or barking dog?
- Eat a very restricted diet?
If you are at your wit’s end trying to manage your child’s tantrums and meltdowns, please join us for one of Kids First’s most popular free Community Service Seminars of the year.
At this valuable two hour event, we’ll explain why some children find it so hard to control their emotions. We’ll share some of the sensory triggers that could be causing your child’s behavioural problems and share solutions that will offer a change for good in your home, as well as in the classroom and playground.
Presenter: Laura Simmons
At Kids First’s next free Community Service Seminar, you’ll meet Laura Simmons, an occupational therapist with a special interest and experience in supporting children who struggle to manage their emotions. Laura has helped hundreds of families to overcome the behavioural challenges presented by sensitive, strong-willed children and whose sensory differences affect their ability to cope with challenging situations.
In this valuable 2 hour presentation, Laura will explain the link between your child’s sensory processing system and their tantrums. She will share proven strategies for reducing the number of meltdowns your child has and provide guidance about when to seek help so that your child can learn to enjoy life more and cope better at home, pre-school and school.
Who is this event for?
How to Manage Your Child’s Meltdowns is best suited to parents of children aged 3 – 10. Early educators, preschool staff and teachers are also most welcome to attend.
