Rhiannan Close – Occupational Therapist

Rhiannan Close – Occupational Therapist

Originally from Western Australia, Rhiannan has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with additional needs and prior to joining the Kids First team, spent several years in a full-time role with the Autism Association of WA.

Rhiannan’s work in paediatric private practice and the disability sector has given her many opportunities to support children and young people who have benefited from her creative, evidence-based approach to therapy. Trained in the DIR Floortime approach to therapy, as well as the 123 Magic behaviour and emotion coaching protocol, she brings a diverse range of valuable supports to the children and families in her care.

Rhiannan has a gentle personality and children warm quickly to her because of her sensitivity to their needs. Her enthusiasm and energy ensure that her OT sessions are fun for children and informative for parents, who appreciate the clear and detailed approach she takes to sharing information with them.

Rhiannan supports children with a wide range of challenges, including those who need occupational therapy assessments and interventions to improve their fine motor skills, social skills, emotional regulation, visual perceptual skills and attention.

She also has a particular professional interest in supporting children who have sensory processing difficulties and is passionate about helping children who struggle with conditions like ADHD and Autism.

Rebates for appointments with Rhiannan can be claimed through private health funds and Medicare (when a plan has been set up by a GP).

She is an integral member of our multi-disciplinary Early Intervention team and also supports children who receive NDIS funding.

Appointments with Rhiannan are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and  Saturdays and can be made by calling Kids First on (02) 9938 5419.
